Course Cancellation

Courses are cancelled on May 31 if they do not meet enrollment minimums.

• Lower division courses need 12+ students
• Upper division courses need 8+ students

We will be in touch with you early and often if your course is at risk.

If a class is cancelled:

• Students are not penalized. We contact them directly and help them enroll into alternate courses.

That being said, a cancellation is upsetting for instructors and students, and stressful for Summer Session Staff.  It's ideal to avoid these completely by planning ahead to offer the most needed classes and by helping us promote your class (see “Publicizing your course” section of our website).
