Appointment Letter

Appointment Letter
Your Appointment Letter will be emailed to you (from ue-ahr@ucsc.edu) the first week of March, detailing the terms of employment. You must accept or decline the appointment with a response to the email by the deadline in your letter. We cannot begin to process your payroll until we have received your acceptance of the appointment.

Please send your appointment-related questions to the AHR team, and your Summer Session questions to us at summer@ucsc.edu.

Associate In moving to a Teaching Fellow

If a graduate student advances to candidacy (moving from an Associate In rank to a Teaching Fellow), the department is responsible for notifying the Academic Human Resources Team at ue-ahr@ucsc.edu. Notification is required by June 15 to reissue a revised Summer Session appointment letter and ensure appropriate pay for their course(s).

Teaching Fellow moving to a Lecturer

If a graduate student completes their degree (moving from a GSI rank to a lecturer title), the department is responsible for (1) ensuring compliance for open recruitment through UC Recruit and (2) notifying the Academic Human Resources Team at ue-ahr@ucsc.edu about their degree completion.  Summer 2018 course pay will be based on $56,106 annual lecturer salary ($6,234 for a 5 credit course). One exception is where the lecturer has an appointment for the coming year from that same department. A revised Summer Session appointment letter will be issued after compliance is completed.  Please note, if the individual does not have compliance, they cannot teach as a lecturer, nor will they be eligible to teach as a GSI after graduation.
