Transfer Edge

As a transfer student I found the summer session extremely helpful. I took summer courses to get ahead and acclimate myself to the school, and I feel like I accomplished both and more. I feel like I am already a part of the slug family.” - Zachary Mosley (2021 Transfer Edge)

If you’re thinking about starting this summer, let us tell you a little bit about what it means to be a Transfer Edge student. It means you:

  • Have the option to move to campus on Friday, July 22 (or commute)
  • Take 7 credits during Summer Session 2 (a 5-credit class of your choice, plus the 2-credit Successful Transfer to the Research University). You can also add a Session 1 class.
  • Maximize your two years on-campus
  • Have a core group of Peer Mentors and Resident Assistants supporting you

You’ll get an edge on degree requirements with dedicated faculty in small classes that support your success. You won’t just experience the campus early, you’ll make connections with faculty and advisors to make the most of your UCSC experience.

Summer Edge also includes a ton of fun, including social events and exploration of the University’s unique location, culture, community, and identity. Register by June 15!

If you decide not to participate in the Edge program, but still want to make degree progress this summer, you can choose an online/remote class through Summer Session. Follow the next steps for Summer Session here.
