“This summer session was my first set of classes at UCSC and they were an amazing experience. I was eager to get started with college and summer session was the perfect bridge between high school and college.” - Asher Chelder (2021 First Year Edge)
If you’re thinking about starting this summer, let us tell you a little bit about what it means to be a First Year Edge student. It means you:
- Move to campus on Friday, July 22, and live in a summer residence hall with other newly admitted students.*
- From buses to beaches, you'll learn where everything is with the help of Peer Mentors and new friends.
- Take 7 credits in-person during Summer Session 2 (a 5-credit class of your choice, plus the 2-credit Navigating the Research University)
You’ll get an edge on degree requirements with dedicated faculty in small classes that support your success.
Summer Edge also includes a ton of fun, including social events and exploration of the University’s unique location, culture, community, and identity.
