Financial Aid
Summer Edge Promise Award
Students with high financial need (per the 2024-25 FAFSA or Dream Act Application) are eligible to have the 7 credits of tuition and Campus Fee for the Summer Edge program covered with this special grant designed exclusively for incoming students in Summer Edge.
Additional grants and need-based aid may also be available. Students must submit their 2024-2025 FAFSA or Dream Application by June 30. This is in addition to the 2025-2026 FAFSA or Dream Application. For more information on how to apply, eligibility requirements, and grant estimates for Summer Edge, visit the Financial Aid Website.
Note: Receiving Edge aid funding does not decrease your four-year aid eligibility. To speak with the Financial Aid Office, visit their Zoom Drop-In Advising .
Students who withdraw their SIR or are canceled for failure to meet their Conditions of Admission will be billed back for any disbursed financial aid.

UC SHIP Health Insurance
The University of California Regents mandate that all students be covered by a health insurance plan. Because having an insurance plan is required, all full- and part-time undergraduate and graduate students are automatically enrolled in and charged for the University of California Student Health Insurance Plan (UC SHIP) unless they submit an online insurance waiver confirming they have acceptable health insurance coverage. Read the University of California’s insurance mandate letter.
Edge students are who already have acceptable health insurance coverage and wish to waive this coverage must submit an online insurance waiver by the summer deadline.
The UC SHIP Health Insurance provides continuous coverage. This means if you enroll in Session 1 classes you will be charged for and covered throughout summer and until the beginning of fall quarter (regardless of enrollment in Session 2).
Veterans
New fall admits can use their GI Bill for the preceding summer if the courses fulfill their degree requirements. Contact the UCSC VA Certifying Official at vets_benefits@ucsc.edu for more information.
