Housing and Dining

Transfer Edge students who apply for campus housing
Move-in date: Tues. July 21. Move-out date: Sat. August 29

On-campus housing is optional for Transfer Edge students, but strongly recommended! While Edge students have the opportunity to connect with current UCSC students enrolled in Summer Session, separate housing is reserved, especially for you, your transfer peer mentors, and residence assistants (RA).

Summer Edge housing gives students the opportunity to dorm together, get to know one another, experience residential life at UCSC, and participate in on-campus events and activities organized by their peer mentors and RAs.

  • If you live on-campus, housing and dining are a combined plan/application, and students are allocated a balance of ‘Slug Points’, which can be used at any campus dining hall, or PERK Coffee Bar with a student ID Card. Please see the UCSC dining page for more information on dining options during the summer.
  • If you chose not to live on campus, you still have access to all open dining facilities on campus. You would just purchase meals with cash, rather than use 'Slug Points' that come with a dining plan.

Apply for Transfer Edge Housing & Dining

  • Once you complete the steps to register for Transfer Edge, visit the Summer Housing page for how to apply.
  • Transfer Edge students submit the Transfer Edge housing application.
  • Once you have been assigned to a room, you will receive an auto-generated confirmation email. (You may have already received a separate confirmation if your fall housing assignment has been made.) A few days after you receive your confirmation email, you will be able to view your room assignment and roommate(s) information in the student housing portal.
  • Do not be alarmed if your application is "pending." Your Housing Coordinator is currently working on assignments. Each application is personally read and hand-matched.
