Summer Session

You can still make degree progress this summer, even if starting in-person with Summer Edge is not the right choice for you. To take only an online/remote classes in any session, follow these steps:

  • During your registration, select either First Year or Transfer - online summer classes of my choice (no Edge program or benefits). 


  • Summer Session students do not recieve 25% off their per-credit tuition. 
  • When calculating your costs and potential financial aid eligiblity, it is importnat to note that you are not aid eligible if you only take one online summer course. You need to complete a minimum of 7+ credits.

Summer Session enrollment opens for all students on May 1, meaning no one will be able to enroll before you. The earlier you register for Edge, the better prepared you will be to get the perfect course for your plan. 

Registration includes a nonrefundable $50 fee, but there are no other costs if you decide not to attend before May 1.

 After You Register:

  • We will begin processing the moment your registration and $50 are received.
  • When complete, you will be notified via your UCSC email address that you’re active to enroll in Summer Session classes starting May 1. 
  • Use your UCSC Gmail address - all official communications are sent to your cruzID@ucsc.eduAll instructors use your UCSC email. Check your spam filters!

Note: As an incoming student, you are responsible for ensuring that your conditions of admission to UC Santa Cruz have been met. Read the Conditions of Admission page in your online offer of admission to fully understand your obligations.
