You’ll get a head start on degree requirements, and with getting to know the campus and college life at UCSC. Start strong at UCSC and do it with the Transfer Academy by:

  • Starting fresh - UCSC GPA is calculated from the first term of enrollment.

  • Earning 7 credits towards your degree.

  • Getting a reserved seat in the required Transfer Academy course, ‘Successful Transfer to the Research University’ which fills every fall!

  • Connecting with the Career Center for job and internship hunting.

  • Taking the MBTI or Strong Interests Inventory, furthering your personal and professional development.

  • Meeting with Academic and Major Advisers to make your strategic academic plan.

  • Saving money with Academy exclusive discounts.

  • Getting adjusted early to the quick pace of the quarter system.

Designed for students to start their undergraduate career at UC Santa Cruz, you will have the unique opportunity to engage with faculty, meet with academic advisers, and begin exploring professional development opportunities. For those who live in the residence halls with Peer Mentors and Resident Assistants, you will not only make great connections with peers, classmates, and roommates but also learn how to navigate campus life. Transfer Academy also offers fun extracurricular activities, including local hikes, backpacking, a day trip to San Francisco, and exploration of the University’s unique location, culture, community, and identity.

After accepting your admission to UCSC for fall, follow these steps:

  1. Register for the Summer Transfer Academy starting April 1
  2. Submit Financial Aid Information. Make a correction to your 2016-2017 submitted FAFSA to include school code 001321

  3. Enroll in Courses

  4. Register for the July 28 Transfer Day Orientation by June 4 to avoid a late fee

  5. (optional) Submit an on-campus housing application starting June 12

  6. Confirm your attendance in the Transfer Academy by June 30
