The International Academy is open to all first-year international students who have been admitted to UC Santa Cruz for fall. 

  1.  Accept your offer of admission:
    • Accept your offer of admission to UCSC through your student portal. If you need them, please see these instructions.
  2. Submit an I-20/DS-2019 Request:
    • Once you have accepted your offer of admission, it can take up to 5-7 business days for you to receive instructions from the International Student & Scholar Services (ISSS) on how to submit your I-20/DS-2019 request form and other documents through the Visa Document Request Tool (VDRT).
    • To register for the International Academy program, please select ‘Summer Academy: International’ for the program start under Section B. on the I-20/DS-2019 Request form.

    • Submit the request form and all required documentation.

    • If you have already submitted your I-20 request for the fall, but you would like to participate in the International Academy program starting this summer in July, please contact
  3. Receive Registration Confirmation from Summer Session:
    • After you have indicated ‘Summer Academy: International’ on your request form, ISSS will notify the Summer Session office of your registration in the program.
    • Please allow up to 10 business days for the Summer Session office to process and finalize your registration and activate your accounts so that you may enroll in summer classes.
    • Once your registration has been finalized, you will receive an email confirming your registration for 1.) Summer Session, which will allow you to enroll in summer classes, and for 2.) Summer Academy, which confirms that you have been successfully registered for the Summer Academy International program.
