Fall Admit Transfer - Summer Session (remote)

As an incoming UCSC student, you can make degree progress the summer before your first year through Summer Session (remote).

All incoming students who want to enroll in Summer Session (remote) must first register to activate their account for summer enrollment.

Session 1, 8-week, and 10-week class registration is closed

First Steps:
  • Submit your online registration
    • Under question 2 - Put your UCSC ID number
    • Under the "Enrollment" select, "no" and "None of the above."

registration example

  • Pay the nonrefundable $50 registration fee. We only start processing your form after payment is complete (in other words, your registration is not done, until you pay).

After You Register:

  • The registration process is not immediate and involves multiple offices - we estimate it will take three days max to complete.
  • Staff will begin processing the moment your payment is received - we want you to be able to start class Monday or Tuesday.
  • When processing is complete, you will receive an email with your UCSC ID number, your CruzID, and access to set up your passwords so you're able to log into your MyUCSC portal and add Session 2 classes.
  • Use our page on navigating MyUCSC for assistance with adding classes, changing passwords, etc.

Check Your UCSC Gmail:

  • Google powers the UCSC Email system. All faculty, staff, and students have an individual UCSC Google Gmail account (cruzID@ucsc.edu).
  • All official UC and UCSC communication uses your @ucsc.edu email address.
  • All instructors will contact you via your UCSC email, especially important if you are in an online course. All online course information will go exclusively to your UCSC Gmail account.

Guidance on selecting courses:

  • Check the remote learning course highlights lists of suggested courses by major from the Academic Advising community. These lists represent good options for students taking their first classes at UCSC.
  • Explore summer courses through class search. Be sure to select the ‘Summer Quarter’ term (if not the default).
  • Get started with the Transfer Advising Guide from Undergraduate Advising.
  • Interested in getting a General Education Requirement met? Read up on UCSC’s GE Requirements.
  • Connect with STARS (Services for Transfer and Re-entry students) for academic guidance and support.

*Math courses require placement at the appropriate level; more information about math placement here.

Health Insurance

The University of California Regents mandate that all students be covered by a health insurance plan. Because having an insurance plan is required, all full- and part-time undergraduate and graduate students are automatically enrolled in and charged for the University of California Student Health Insurance Plan (UC SHIP) unless they submit an online insurance waiver confirming they have acceptable health insurance coverage. \
