Fall Admit Frosh - Summer Session

If you chose not to attend the Summer Academy: First Year program, as an incoming UCSC student, you could still begin making degree progress the summer before your first year through Summer Session (on-campus) or online (from anywhere). If you are an incoming International student, find out about your requirements here

All incoming students who want to enroll in Summer Session must first register to activate their account for summer enrollment.

Fall admit registration open April 1 - June 15. Registration will re-open for Session 2 courses July 20-25 (no Financial Aid available). No exceptions made after the deadline.

First Steps:
  • Submit your online registration
    • Under question 2 - Put your UCSC ID number
    • Under the "Enrollment" select, "no" and "None of the above."

  • Pay the nonrefundable $50 registration fee. The earlier you complete your registration and payment, the better, especially if you would like Financial Aid consideration.

After you Register:

  • Staff will begin processing the moment your $50 payment is received.
  • When processing is complete, you will receive an email with details, confirming you are now active to enroll in summer classes. Then you can enroll in Session 2 courses.
  • If you aren't active and enrolled by Monday, July 29, go to your first class anyway, so you don't miss anything.
  • Please view our page on navigating MyUCSC for assistance with adding classes, changing passwords, etc.

Check Your UCSC Gmail:

  • Google powers the UCSC Email system. All faculty, staff, and students have an individual UCSC Google Gmail account (cruzID@ucsc.edu).
  • All official UC and UCSC communication uses your @ucsc.edu email address.
  • All instructors will contact you via your UCSC email, especially important if you are in an online course. All online course information will go exclusively to your UCSC Gmail account.

Guidance on selecting courses:

  • Check the Course Highlights for a list of suggested courses for incoming frosh from the Academic Advising community. The list represents good options for students taking their first classes at UCSC.
  • Explore summer session courses through class search. Be sure to select the ‘Summer Quarter’ term (if it is not the default).
  • Get started with the Frosh Advising Guide from Undergraduate Advising.
  • Interested in getting a General Education Requirement met? Read up on UCSC’s GE Requirements.

*Math courses require placement at the appropriate level; more information about math placement here.

Financial Aid - Priority Deadline - June 1

  • UCSC students eligible for Financial Aid should review the summer Financial Aid information and stop by the Financial Aid office located at Hahn 205.
